Went for the Ribs and Wings on the 4th December 2018. My wife and I have been several times on a Tuesday for the Rack Attack but due to being busy at work this was the first time we'd had the chance to go since the Tuesday menu changed to Ribs and Wings. Rack Attack used to cost 10 and was always great, it was a good serving of ribs and always well cooked. I could not have recommended it more, and often told people about it. Unfortunately, we both found the new Ribs and Wings to be a massive disappointment. The ribs were tasty, but a small portion, and as for the wings.....it wasn't wings, it was a wing. One chicken wing! And it wasn't very nice. And it's more expensive than rack attack used to be. As far as the chequers itself goes, it's a lovely pub and dining room, and the staff are always very friendly and provide great service. And the rest of the food on the menu is always nice, I just found the ribs and wing(s) a huge let down.
Love love love! Stayed here a few times and everything is simply perfect with the rooms. High end tea, coffee water and beauty products such as shampoo, conditioner and soaps. Decor is perfectly designed in each room. The food is slightly pricey but delicious. Please don't waste time staying elsewhere, stay here! Staff were also friendly:-)
Birthday lunch. Lovely food off the carvery and main menu. Good friendly atmosphere. Very relaxed. Good venue.
Not a good day to go with party of 6 as 8 items not available on menu due to 'busy NY Eve'. Service polite but dreadfully slow. 40mins between starters and mains. 12oz rump more like 8oz, squid rings and chips overcooked, rocket wilted and dry, burgers no flavour.. disaster really.. didn't leave service which penalised the waiting staff rather than kitchen staff... with mains between 16-22 no excuse really... Will try again in a couple of months as usually a good rep...
Really nice place. Stayed overnight found the room comfortable but we stayed at the front of the hotel and found it was noisy at times through the night so next time we would stay at the rear. Also the light bulb wasn't working on the bedside and the clock provided did not work, this is room 9.The breakfast was first class and Toni the waitress was so helpful and polite. A very nice place to stay.
