DO NOT GO IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIESI should start by saying Ive been to this restaurant on a previous occasion and had a lovely experience however I cannot give it more than one star due to its appalling understanding of allergies.I went on this occasion with my friend who is a coeliac. We informed the waitress of the allergy on arrival and my friend ordered gluten free granola with gluten free bread. We waited almost an hour for food and when it arrived my friend had an inkling that the toast wasnt gluten free. She questioned the waitress who confirmed it was gluten free. It was only when she said she really wasnt happy and could the waitress check again that the waitress said actually it wasnt gluten free. We asked to see the manager which took another 5 minutes. The managers response was bizarre. He just kept saying all the staff are trained in allergies. We kept explaining that clearly there was a problem. The manager said hed have to go and speak to someone else (despite saying he was the manager). He did kindly say the meal was free of charge but even when my friend was explaining how serious her allergic reaction wouldve been if shed relied on the waitress he really didnt seem to understand the seriousness of the situation. I dont know if he was just trying not to cause a scene but he just kept smiling and didnt seem to comprehend how close to hed got to landing my friend in hospital. I was also with my 3 year old child who even after an hour and a quarter never even received his food
Superb place, great quality food and atmosphere. Our waiter was ever so friendly and helpful with recommending dishes. Thanks for making our night so enjoyable!
Very nice lunch here for three of us. A busy lively atmosphere, well decorated and comfortable seating. It was a little bit cramped with the three of us on a corner seat with a round table. Can recommend the endive and stilton starter followed by the ivy shepherds pie. We all enjoyed our beautifully presented, well proportioned meals. Service was brisk but not over hurried. Reasonably priced for such a prestigious chain of restaurants.
Beautiful venue, fantastic staff however food wasn't t at the same standard. My toast came out like warm bread and my eggs had more snot than a 7yr old with a cold. The staff were extremely happy to get me some more toast however by the time it arrived the rest of my breakfast was cold and it came out exactly the same as before, like warm bread. This was my first experience of an ivy and probably my last if that's the standard.such a shame as I had heard great things.
Celebrated our anniversary with dinner at the Ivy and had a lovely evening. The food is extremely well cooked, deceptively simple and very tasty. The venison stew and mash was incredible, highly recommended. The service was friendly, relaxed and efficient. Thank you Georgia for making our evening special, we will be coming back.
